Mathison Hall + Haskayne 2022 Community Report

Challenge

Design a community report that celebrated one of the most significant milestones in Haskayne's history: the opening of Mathison Hall, a $90 million expansion that transformed the school's learning, research, and community spaces. The publication needed to communicate the impact of this investment while highlighting donor contributions, student success, research achievements, and the school's continued growth.

Approach

As lead designer, I was responsible for the creative direction, publication design, information hierarchy, photography art direction, and production of both the print and digital editions. The report was structured around the story of transformation, using Mathison Hall as a visual and narrative anchor throughout the publication.

To support this story, I developed a clean editorial design system that balanced architecture, storytelling, photography, donor recognition, and institutional reporting. Expansive imagery showcased the new building and learning environments, while thoughtful typography, strategic pacing, and information design helped guide readers through a complex range of content and stakeholder messages.

The final publication was designed to function equally well as a celebration piece, donor stewardship tool, and annual report.
